Beverly Jean (Howell) DeKam, age 81 of Coldwater, passed
away Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at the Community Health Center of Branch
County surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 23, 1930 in
Marshall, Michigan to Ross I. and Bethe L. (Lords) Howell. She married Thomas
Peter DeKam on August 7, 1953 in Coldwater, Michigan. Her husband of 30 years
preceded her in death. Beverly was a life member of Women of the Moose Lodge
#677 and a well known member of Branch Adapt of Coldwater. She is survived by
two daughters, Ardis (Randy) Frasier and Grace M. (Ron) Arold both of
Coldwater; Ron Lahnum also of Coldwater and a sister Cathy Tucker of Quincy,
Michigan. She was preceded in death by 4 step children. Also surviving are 4
grandkids: April (Kenny Horn) Dekam, Shannon Mears, Jenny (Roger) Oits and
Scott Frasier. She has 5 great grandchildren, Danielle, Travis, Kennedy,
Madison, and Taylor; and three great-great grandchildren, Jordin, Jazzme and
Emma. Grandma loved to spend time with her grand kids and especially loved her
horses. She was a loving mother, grandmother and a 23 year cancer survivor.
Visitation Tuesday, November 1, 2011 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.
and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Spencer Family Funeral home in Athens. Funeral
Service Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. at Spencer’s with Rev. Norman
Schooley officiating. Burial Oak Grove Cemetery in Coldwater. Memorials in
loving memory of Beverly may be directed to the family. After the committal at
Oak Grove Cemetery, the family would like to invite their family and friends to
join them at the Moose Lodge in Coldwater for food and fellowship.
