Kalamazoo

John Richard Hansen, age 73 of Kalamazoo, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo. He was born at home in Normal, IL to John Omar and Ella Mae (Jorgensen) Hansen on September 25, 1938. He graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1956 and then served in the United States Army as a Military Policeman was an expert sharpshooter with both rifles and pistols. John worked at Mead Paper Products for 44 years. He loved fishing and hunting when he was young and later in life he enjoyed TV, gambling and socializing at the local pub.

John married Karen K. Hart on August 5, 1993 and she survives. Also surviving are 2 stepsons Toby Plessinger of Portage, MI., Timothy Plessinger of Savannah, GA., several grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, a sister Judi (Robert) La Duke and in laws Danny (Sharon) Ray of Stansville, KY, Harold (Laura) Hart of West Line, OR, Jerry Hart of Jackson, MI, Leland (Connie) Creech of Jeffersonville, IN and Terry Hart of Albion, MI.

Military Honors: 12 noon Friday, December 30, 2011 at Ft. Custer National Cemetery.
