Battle Creek
Robert “Bob” Howard Fraser Jr., age 75 of Battle Creek passed away on January 27, 2012. Robert was born on May 3, 1936 in Battle Creek, the son of Robert Howard Fraser M.D. and Edythe Opal (Harsh) Fraser. He is a graduate of Cranbrook School for Boys (Detroit) and the University of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia) where he received Bachelor degrees in English and Civil Engineering. He studied Government and City Planning at Harvard (Boston). Robert attended the U.S. Coast Officer Candidate School (Yorktown, VA) and held the rank of Lieutenant JG in the US Coast Guard and served in New York and Boston. After his military duty he was employed by the Michigan Department of Transportation as a Civil Engineer working on the Interstate Highway Program and was a member of professional engineering associations. As a young man, he loved sailing on Gull Lake and soccer. Bob always had a passion for reading and traveling and visited all 50 states and 10 foreign countries. He is survived by his sister Nancy Evans of Three Lakes, WI and three nieces and one nephew of Grand Rapids. Services are pending at Spencer Family Funeral Home, 310 S. Capital Ave., Athens. Burial 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to Remember-a-Vet Fund through the Battle Creek Enquirer, 155 W. Van Buren St., Battle Creek.
