Patricia “Patty” E. Matson, age 86 of Athens, passed away Saturday, January 28, 2012 at her residence in Athens. She was born August 13, 1925 in Attica Pawnee, IN to Everett B. and Hazel A. (Hedrick) Smith. She was a clerk typist for several leading local companies. Patty married Richard Matson on September 25, 1950 in Colon, MI. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, her daughter Penny Ann (Robert) Winter of Battle Creek; and three grandchildren, Dora Furlong of Raymore. MO Levi Matson and Kelsie Matson both of Battle Creek. She was preceded in death by a son James R. Matson on March 11, 2011.
Visitation 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at Spencer Family Funeral Home in Athens. Funeral Services 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 1st at Burr Oak Cemetery, Athens with Dora Furlong officiating. Memorials may be directed to the Calhoun County Animal Shelter.
